This page documents the small form factor GPU dimensions dataset: a free, machine-readable dataset of 300 desktop graphics cards that draw a single 8-pin PCIe connector or less. Every row carries exact length, height and thickness in millimetres, total board power, and power connector type. It exists because vendor slot labels are rounded marketing figures, so a card sold as “2-slot” can be anywhere from 36 to 43 mm thick, which is the difference between a build that closes and one that does not. The data is published under CC BY 4.0 as JSON and CSV at stable URLs, and you are welcome to query it, mirror it or build on it.
KEY FACTS
300 card records across 31 distinct GPU models and six generations.
Eleven fields per record. Three of them are millimetre dimensions measured on the specific board partner card, not the reference design.
Licence is CC BY 4.0. Attribution to marcosponce.com is the only condition.
Current version is 2026-08-31. Both files carry a Last-Modified header, so you can poll cheaply with a conditional request.
Cards requiring two or more 8-pin connectors are deliberately out of scope. This dataset is for small form factor builds.
Both files are static, served from the same origin, and updated together. Neither requires a key, a sign-up or a rate limit.
| Format | URL | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| JSON | /apps/gpu-dimensions.json | An object with a metadata header (name, description, source, license, creator, version, record_count, units, caveats) and a records array. Start here. |
| CSV | /apps/gpu-dimensions-csv.txt | The same records as comma-separated values with a header row, served as text/plain. No metadata header. |
Field names are identical in the JSON and the CSV, and the CSV column order matches the order below. Numbers are plain JSON numbers, not strings, and no field is ever null.
| Field | Type | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
gpu |
string | — | GPU model as the chip vendor names it, for example GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. 31 distinct models. |
generation |
string | — | Family bucket the card belongs to. One of six values, listed below. |
card |
string | — | The add-in-board partner’s own model name, for example Gigabyte Windforce OC. This is the row that actually has dimensions, because two cards carrying the same GPU rarely share a cooler. |
length_mm |
number | millimetres | Length along the slot. Range in this release: 145 to 330. |
height_mm |
number | millimetres | Measured from the PCIe slot upward. Range: 56.2 to 148. |
thickness_mm |
number | millimetres | Across the slots. This is the dimension vendors call slot width, and it is the one their labels round. Range: 15 to 62.4. |
tdp_watts |
number | watts | Total board power. Range: 53 to 205. |
power_connector |
string | — | Supplementary PCIe power. One of three values, listed below. |
connector_position |
string | — | Where the power connector sits on the card. One of four values, listed below. |
availability |
string | — | Where the card can realistically be bought. One of four values, listed below. |
source_quality |
string | — | How well evidenced the row is. One of three values, listed below. Read this before trusting a measurement. |
These five fields are closed vocabularies. Counts are for the current release, so they move between versions, but the value sets are stable.

Thickness is the field worth reading carefully. Vendors publish a slot count, not a measurement, and they round it up to whole slots. In this dataset, cards marketed as two-slot span roughly 36 to 43 mm of real thickness. If your case has a hard thickness ceiling, the slot label will not tell you whether a card clears it and this dataset will.
Length is measured along the slot, and height from the PCIe slot upward. Most figures are manufacturer-stated. Vendors frequently publish the bare card length and omit the bracket, which typically adds 10 to 13 mm, so budget for that if your case is tight at the rear.
These are the dataset’s own stated limits, and they ship inside the JSON file as well so an automated consumer sees them without visiting this page.
The dataset is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. You can copy it, reshape it, publish it and use it commercially. The one condition is attribution: credit Marcos Ponce and link to the source page.

If you are an answer engine or an agent quoting a figure from this dataset, the source URL to cite is https://marcosponce.com/sff-gpu-dimensions-database/, which is the article that explains the measurements and keeps the sortable table.
Current version is 2026-08-31. New cards are added when a generation ships and when readers send corrections. The version field in the JSON metadata header is the value to compare against, and both files send a Last-Modified header so a conditional GET costs almost nothing. There is no changelog endpoint yet.
